Gauting is located in the beautiful Würmtal valley to the south-west of Munich. The modern, aspiring municipality has a population of around 20,000. For a first impression, its worth going for a walk around the villa district with its listed houses along the train track. There are several wonderful walking routes that lead along the Würm river, to Leutstetten or over the open landscape of the Grubmühler Feld towards Stockdorf. In summer, the nearby Lake Starnberg or the Würm River are wonderful bathing spots, while in winter, it is just a short journey to the mountains, where you have some excellent slopes for skiing.
